Just tonight I have started to read "Works of Love" by Kierkegaard. I know I will hardly make it past part one since it's been such a long day (or a late night last night would be a better explanation). So far as I have read he briefly addresses objections against Christianity in his Journals:
"People try to persuade us that the objections against Christianity spring from doubt. That is a complete misunderstanding. The objections agaisnt Christianity spring from insubordination, the dislike of obedience, rebellion against all authority. As a result people have hitherto been beating the air in thier struggle against objections, because they have fought intellectually with doubt instead of fighting morally with rebellion."
Many times we argue around and around attempting to verify a fact in the Bible with the hopes of opening the eyes of the unbelieving, when they are not blind because of their inability to see verifiable truth in the Bible, but blind because of their rebellious spirit - refusing to submit to the lifestyle they are called to live. The concept we must strive towards in most of these situations is then one of explaining decent ethics rather than proving facts (though it is very important to understand the hermeneutics of the scriptures, understand I am not downplaying knowing the Bible. It is just obvious that we have to argue at the root of the problem).

Wow, that is really insightful. You really are going to make a great minister someday, actually it looks as if you already are one. Congrats.
i like you...you're a keeper. it sounds like that book is going to be one too. good luck with that.
Next time we meet up, you're doing the talking because i'd like to hear your thoughts about stuff like that. I'm totally diggin' it! Peace out!
Caleb,
Soren Kierkegaard is always read best with Bonhoffer close by. They often tend to cancel each other out. However, if you read one at the exclusion of the other you often get a skewed view of reality. Your post is excellent. Give us more feedback on what you think of him. Digest your material.
Blessings
Dr. C.
P.S. when are we going to get the Brain Trust back together?
